ReplyDeletedo you mean in one season or for their career.
ReplyDeleteIn one season.
ReplyDeleteI guessed Orel Hersheiser...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't advise anyone to guess Orel Hersheiser... just saying.
ReplyDeleteJohn Tudor and Hersheiser are incorrect, but good guesses!
ReplyDeleteWho ever finished second to Gibson in the NL in 68. Usual suspects would be Koufax, Drysdale, Carlton, but since this was a question from uncle Kenny I will go with Koufax.
ReplyDeleteYou got the year correct Mike, but Koufax retired after the 1966 season. The answer is Sam McDowell finished behind teamate Luis Tiant's 1.60 ERA with a 1.81 in 1968. Sudden Sam did lead with 283 K's that year.
